Use MapInfo to draw preliminary routes for underground and aerial fiber optic cable in public right of ways. Analyze multiple route possibilities and determine the most economical path connecting multiple locations in a feasible network configuration. Work with Sales Engineers and OSP Engineers to develop network expansion design solutions. View aerial imagery, websites and other documentation to locate cell towers, customer sites, easements, and optimum construction routes.
Use Google Earth to geo-locate addresses, create and edit KML/KMZ files. Manage the conversion of source data (e.g. KML/KMZ files) into MapInfo using MapInfo’s Universal Translator and other conversion resources. Read and interpret construction CAD drawings showing placement of existing fiber optic cable.
Efficiently perform advanced techniques using GIS (e.g., SQL selects, distance calculations, geographic joins, object buffers, thematic layers, MapBasic tools, registering raster images, legends and layouts). Develop new MapBasic tools to speed up or eliminate repetitive manual steps. Use online resources, user manuals, peers, and company-paid training to develop expert-level skills in MapInfo.

Analyze and manage large amounts of data in MapInfo, Excel spreadsheets, and SharePoint lists. QA/QC incoming data sets. Upload data and files to SharePoint for company-wide access. Follow and enforce corporate standards for data integrity. Compare large sets of data in MapInfo or Excel to find exceptions, differences and errors. Clean up spreadsheet data to produce usable information (e.g., convert latitude/longitude coordinates into consistent format.) Utilize formulas to manipulate and match data. Summarize data for executive decision makers.
