Uniti Fiber’s first announcement as a new division of Communications Sales & Leasing, Inc. (“CS&L”) is driving positive industry traffic as noted in Telecom Ramblings recent post.
In the October 24, 2016 blog post, Telecom Ramblings‘ Rob Powell provides an in-depth, industry look at Uniti Fiber’s Midwest footprint expansion and the advantage CS&L’s REIT structure offers this and future expansions for the company.
In the article, Powell writes, The buildout will see the construction of about 140 new route miles, with the bulk being in the Rockford and Quad Cities markets. They will start digging holes by the end of the first quarter of 2017, assuming the weather cooperates.
He goes on to write, CS&L’s REIT structure gives the company tax advantages that should make funding organic expansions like this easier to justify. Additional expansions adding depth in Uniti Fiber’s other three operating regions will surely be on the menu as well over the next year.
